Hi SDB

We would like to congratulate the Universities of Venice crew for attaining 2nd place in the community section of the CNY Corporate Regatta yesterday. It was a hard fought final and Uni of Venice were only just pipped by half a second or so by the OzPaddle crew.

It has to be said that OzPaddle is made up of many kayakers and paddlers, so by no means are they an easy team to beat. It should also be mentioned that Uni of Venice crew managed the fastest time of the day of 1:01:98, minus one row of paddlers, which would have been competitive on Saturday even (considered our Mixed A crew was doing 59's).

We hope that the Venice boys and girls, and their entourage, enjoyed their time at the races and can definitely hang their heads high in what was a fantastic effort for a crew that had never raced together beforehand. We'd like to thank Charisse Dunn, Ngan Huynh, Lisa Davies, Trina Uri and Alex McGuirk for doing SDB proud as extra paddlers for the Venice Crew and adapting to a completely different stroke. We hope the rest of the trip for the Italians is enjoyable and wish them all a safe flight home and hope to see them again one day!

SDB would also like to thank our volunteers at the corporate day yesterday who helped to contribute to SDB's coffers and without them, days like this would not be possible to the thousands of people out there watching in Darling Harbour. Thanks goes to Rob Turnbull, Sue Gibson, Elly Williams, Kris Sawyer, Akal Khalsa, Alex McGuirk, Charisse Dunn, Albert Au and Margaret Turnbull. Apologies to anyone I missed!

Special mention to those who were there paddling fo their corporate crews and spreading the SDB name. Mark Phillips, Roger Lee, Richard Lee for Medtronics and Charlotte Roderick for Starwood Hotels. We hope you had a good day of racing.
